Independence Day Celebrations — 15 August 2026
79th Independence Day of India
India will celebrate its 79th year of independence on 15 August 2026. On this day in 1947, India broke free from British colonial rule and emerged as a sovereign democratic republic. The first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, delivered his historic "Tryst with Destiny" speech at the stroke of midnight.
As a school rooted in Islamic values and proud Indian citizens, we commemorate this day with a sense of gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy and a sense of responsibility toward our nation. Our Muslim Ummah has contributed richly to India's fabric — from the educational contributions of Darul Uloom Deoband and Aligarh Muslim University to the countless scholars, artists, and leaders who have shaped the nation.
School Program — 15 August 2026
A flag-hoisting ceremony and cultural program will be held at the school grounds. The schedule includes:
- Flag Hoisting — The national flag will be hoisted by the school principal at 8:00 AM
- National Anthem — Jana Gana Mana sung together by students and staff
- Patriotic Speeches — Students will speak on the meaning of independence, the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, and the role of Indian Muslims in the freedom movement
- March Past — Students from all classes will participate in a disciplined march
- Cultural Performances — Patriotic songs, group dances, and a short skit on India's freedom struggle
- Distribution of Sweets — To sweeten the occasion
Remembering Our Freedom Fighters
India's independence was won through the sacrifices of countless heroes. We particularly remember the contributions of Muslim freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the nation:
- Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (Frontier Gandhi) — A devoted follower of Mahatma Gandhi who led the Khudai Khidmatgar movement in the NWFP
- Maulana Abul Kalam Azad — India's first Minister of Education, a senior leader of the Indian National Congress, and a scholar of Islamic theology
- Ashfaqulla Khan — A brave revolutionary who was martyred at a young age for his role in the Kakori Train Action
- Begum Hazrat Mahal — Who led the rebellion in Awadh during the 1857 War of Independence
